Claims
Values an internal register holds about each person, such as an employee group or an employment level, which filters match and compare.
Studio roles: "Owner", "Administrator" and "Community manager".
A claim is a named value a register holds about a person, such as an employee group, an employment level or a leaving date. Unlike a group, it carries a value, so a filter can ask "employment level at least 50" or "leaving date at most 2027-12-31". An external register returns its claims from your system; an internal register holds them on its entries. A claim means the same whichever register gives it, so a filter on it matches members of both kinds.
Pannoniqa AG holds the employment level of its works council members in the internal register "Works council", the same claim SAP HR returns for its employees, so one community "Full-time staff" can filter on it for both.
Declare a claim
An internal register holds only the claims it declares. A new register declares none.
- Open the register. Under "Claims", choose "Add claim".
- Under "Claim", pick a claim of the appsolut register API, such as "Employment level (Whole percent, 0 to 100)". It keeps its type, and means the same as the claim an external register returns.
- Or pick "Own claim…" for one of your organisation's own: enter its "Name", such as Region, and choose its "Type": "Text", "Number", "Yes or no" or "Date". The name is unique in the register, case aside, and cannot be a known claim in other case.
- Choose "Add claim".
The list under "Claims" shows each claim with its "Type" and how many entries hold it. A register holds at most 50 claims.
A claim's type cannot change, as the entries hold values of it. To change it, remove the claim and add it again.
Set a claim on an entry
- By hand: "Add entry" and "Edit entry" show a field for each declared claim under "Claims". Leave a field empty for an entry without the claim. A value that does not fit the claim's type, such as 120 for a whole percent, cannot be saved.
- By upload: map a column to each claim. See Upload and download entries.
An entry either holds a claim or does not: there is no empty value. An entry without a claim fails every filter condition on it, "is none of" included.
A date claim means a day. An external register that sends a date with a time, such as a leaving date of 2025-10-31T00:00:00, counts as that day, 2025-10-31, so a filter on the date answers alike for members of both register kinds.
Remove a claim
- Under "Claims", choose the bin of the claim's row.
- The confirmation says how many entries hold the claim; their values are removed with it. It also lists the filters that read the claim: the assignments of this register in the membership definition and the communities that filter on it. Confirm with "Remove claim".
Filters that use the claim stay, but no entry of this register passes them any more. Every declaration and removal appears in the register activity.
Where claims count
- The membership definition filters an internal register's assignment on the claims it declares, and the count of people each assignment decides follows them.
- Communities filter on claims of every register.
- The organisation membership stores only the claims some filter uses, replaced at every valid check. The members directory's export carries no claims.
- Claims are not groups: no claim is turned into a group, nor a group into a claim.
